Maintenance Technician – Berlin
A dripping shower, a lamp that won't switch on, a lock that sticks: for the guest, that is the whole stay. You make sure it never gets that far.
Our German business doubles this winter, and our houses in Berlin need someone who gets things done. Not just any caretaker, but someone who takes pride in the craft and does not leave a room until it truly works.
ABOUT US
Unicorn is the operational backbone of forward-thinking hotel brands across Europe: the partner guests never see, but always feel. We run front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and guest operations under our partners' brands, with energy, courage and a real love for the craft. Founded in Oslo in 2019, today around 350 colleagues in ten cities across five countries. Our operation is 100 percent digital: paperless, with our own tools for room status, tasks and rotas.
THE ROLE
You take care of maintenance across our Berlin houses: modern hotels and serviced-apartment buildings for leading brands. Your workshop is the rooms, corridors and plant rooms. Your jobs come in digitally from housekeeping and front desk, and you work through them by priority: anything that affects a guest or blocks a room comes first.
You work closely with our House Managers and the housekeeping team. What you can fix yourself, you fix. What needs a specialist, you organise and check.
WHAT YOU OWN — AND ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
Repairs: Small repairs in rooms and public areas, from taps, drains and light fittings to doors, locks and furniture, through to painting touch-ups and silicone joints.
Rooms back on sale: Blocked rooms come first. Every room you release is a room that can welcome guests again.
Preventive maintenance: Regular rounds and planned checks, so problems are solved before a guest notices them.
Tickets and documentation: You work through jobs in our digital system, close them with a photo and a note, and report anything you spot.
Contractors: You coordinate external tradespeople, accompany their visits and check the work is done well.
Materials: You keep track of tools and spare parts and reorder in time, within budget.
WHO YOU ARE
You have a trade qualification (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting) or several years of experience as a maintenance technician, caretaker or in facility maintenance, ideally in hospitality or real estate
You are an all-rounder: you can do a lot yourself and know exactly when a specialist is needed
You work cleanly and thoroughly, including where nobody looks
You are reliable and independent and plan your day by priority
You are friendly when you meet a guest in the corridor
You are comfortable using an app on your smartphone
German OR English, our team speaks many languages
A qualified electrician certification or a driving licence (class B) is a plus
You do not tick every box? Apply anyway. We care more about who you are than what is on your CV.
